MARkD works out of a private salon suite in Cherry Hill, open Monday through Saturday by appointment only. Each client is seen one-on-one. Outside guests are not admitted to the suite, and children come along only when they are having a service themselves.

The business is built around healthy hair as the basis for how hair looks, and it aims to teach clients about their hair so they can embrace their natural texture. Marlene Dietrich, a licensed cosmetologist, deepened her knowledge of scalp and hair science, and the Tender Loving Hair line grew out of that study.

New clients usually begin with the New Client Healthy Hair Experience, which includes a one-on-one consultation and a customized haircare regimen. It also includes an ICU Moisture Masque with a 10-minute spa mist, trimming as needed, and MpressD styling. Color work is built from custom blends of several tones placed to complement natural skin tone, and balayage with smudge roots dusted with lo-lites is also offered.

Smoothing options include Design Essentials amino acid smoothing and Simply Smooth Brazilian keratin, both with starting prices. Smooth and Manage Treatments takes two and a half hours, is listed at $250, reduces frizz and improves manageability while keeping hair healthy, and includes a trim. A consultation is strongly recommended before booking it.

It offers a range of hair care regimens aimed at healthy hair, priced competitively. The salon states that its Tender Loving Hair line is natural, with no parabens or sulfates and no harsh chemicals.
