Mahogany Roots

Mahogany Roots operates as a private natural-hair studio inside Mahogany Company, in a salon-suite space in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The business describes itself as rooted in culture and beauty, and its work centers on protective styles and appointments tailored to each client.

The menu includes Lemonade Braids, Knotless Braids, Island Twists, Bora Bora Braids, Cornrows, Faux Locs, Sew-In installs and Loc Styles. Braid sizes run from Large to Smedium, with Smedium the smallest offered, and braid lengths range from shoulder to derriere. Square parting is included with eligible braid services, and Shell, Diamond, Triangle and Freestyle partings are available as add-ons.

Booking requires a $50 nonrefundable deposit, which is applied toward the scheduled service; appointments are not confirmed until it is received. Prices are not posted on the website and are confirmed through the booking platform. Natural hair must measure at least four inches through the braided areas. Hair from two to under four inches can be booked with a Short-Hair Grip add-on, and hair under two inches cannot be braided.

Clients arrive with natural hair freshly shampooed, detangled, blow-dried, stretched and fully dry, unless a hair-preparation service is booked. Locs should be clean and dry unless a cleansing service is added. Clients supply their own hair unless a service description says it is included. Guests are not allowed in the suite without advance approval, and children may attend only if approved beforehand. Hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday to Sunday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Calls and texts go to 336-897-8902, and the full address is shared with confirmed clients.

Clients may take part in SuiteTalk, a recorded conversation series by Mahogany Company, but are never required to. Informal conversations in the chair are not recorded or published, and no client is photographed, filmed or featured without separate permission.
