Luxelab Academy is the salon's training program for people preparing to become hairstylists, built around ongoing learning. Students work alongside the salon's stylists each day and move through a sequence of skill tests. After passing the tests for expertise, they may begin serving their own clients. The program ends with a final presentation that each student plans and produces. According to the salon, the Academy ranks among the most in-demand training programs in Los Angeles. Its educators also teach for L'Oreal Professionnel, Kerastase, Shu Uemura, L'Oreal Color Brands, Mizani, Epres and Oribe. The Academy has been operating for over two decades.

The salon's Total Balance Philosophy brings together haircutting, styling, color, fashion analysis and forecasting, technical skill and creativity, with an emphasis on ethics and business practices. It holds that treating people well is also good business.

Visits are cashless for services, and tips for stylists can be paid in cash or through Venmo.
