The salon opened in 2005, and Jen bought the Valparaiso franchise in 2013 after starting there as manager. In 2013 it also added a separate grown-up space for teens and adults. It is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, and is closed Sundays. Appointments are recommended, as the salon works by appointment.

Children are the heart of the business. The cutting stations are styled like a playground, with children's chairs modeled on fire engines, cars, a jeep, a princess carriage and characters from popular shows. Little ones can wait in an indoor play area with a slide, and children receive free popcorn and juice during their appointments. During a haircut they can watch a DVD or play a video game. Haircuts and styling are offered for anyone from 5 months old upward. The First Haircut service comes with a certificate, a lock of hair and a photo, and the Daddy (or Grandpa) and Me and Mommy (or Grandma) and Me packages pair a grown-up's visit with a child's.

Teens and adults have their own area with Xbox 360 consoles and movies. Many of the tweens and teens have been coming in since their first haircut, and the salon also has a large base of adult clients. Haircuts and styling are offered for straight, curly, thick and fine hair. A loyalty perk gives a half-price tenth haircut after nine haircuts.

The salon carries hair care for kids from Original Sprout, Fairy Tales and Johnny B, and styling products from Glop & Glam, Unbrush and The Wet Brush, along with a wide range for adults. The salon states that its kids' products are kid-friendly and made without harsh chemicals. It also hires only stylists with prior experience rather than those fresh out of beauty school, and it takes on full-time and part-time stylists. Applicants can email a resume or apply in person.
