Locitude US

Locitude started in March 2014 as a blog that shared the experience of a Nigerian loc head. It has since grown into a studio with locations in Lagos and Reston, Virginia. The Lagos studio is at Suite 44, Dolphin Plaza, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, and the Virginia studio is by appointment only.

The studio's aim is to show Nigerians, other West Africans, Africans and others that locs can be a deliberate style choice and a real alternative to natural hair. It also publishes Locitude Magazine, which mostly collects articles from the blog, and the Talking Locs podcast, which offers tips on starting and maintaining locs. In 2014 it hosted Loc Appreciation Day in Lagos.

Wash, Re-twist and Style is the one the salon calls its most popular service. It includes a thorough wash with Locitude Shampoo and conditioning, oiling, a re-twist by comb twist or palm roll, and optional styling, with interlocking available on request. Comb Curls suit people who want the look of locs without a full commitment.

Other services include Hot Oil Treatment, which uses Locitude Shampoo, Locitude Signature Oils and other oils chosen for the scalp and hair condition, followed by a re-twist and styling. Microlocs Retightening uses a latch hook and a 2-4 point interlocking method, with a wash and styling. Loc Colour is offered in blonde, red or white, with details and reservations handled by phone. Styling covers a range of techniques for locs. Bridal styling for locs is also available, with consultation booking.

Loc Consultation is free and covers starting locs or checking on existing ones. Bookings can be made through the Locitude website or its SimplyBook booking page.
