LocEnvy

LocEnvy is a registered studio at 12001 Acadia Ct in Hawthorne, which the listing describes as both female-owned and Black-owned. The studio is open Thursday through Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and is closed Sunday through Wednesday. Sisterlocks is a three-visit process that opens with a consultation, where sample locks are put in so the client can preview the finished look. Clients are asked to shampoo at least twice before the locking session, which is held about two weeks after the consultation. The consultation requires a $40 deposit that is non-refundable and counts toward the service. Locking takes two to four days and carries a $100 per-day deposit that is non-refundable, non-transferable and applied to the service. The full package starts at $800 for locks up to 4 inches. Payment can be split into up to two installments, or partly made through PayPal. Each client takes home a kit with Sisterlocks starter shampoo, rubber bands and a guide to grooming and shampooing the hair.

Maintenance is built into the schedule. Retightening sessions are booked every 4 to 6 weeks, and the first 3 hours cost $150, with $40 per additional hour. Waiting longer can add time and cost, and a retightening period beyond 12 weeks is priced as a new installation. A follow-up visit is set no more than 3 to 4 weeks after the install, and moving that visit later incurs a full retightening fee.

Beyond locs, the studio offers a spa shampoo and styling with roller sets, bantu knots, pipe cleaner sets and up-dos, starting at $40. Snacks, free Wi-Fi and a relaxed, comfortable setting are provided during locking sessions. Parking is available, and the studio also keeps a blog with Sisterlocks videos, posts and a general FAQ describing Sisterlocks as a natural hair management system.

Work is planned around a consultation and a set retightening schedule, so the loc maintenance stays on track between visits.
