LEXMASTER CURLS

Lexmaster Curls is a hair salon on West Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, open Thursday and Friday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Its work centers on curly hair: dry cutting, shaping cuts so they can be managed at home, and pairing them with extensions, color and scalp treatments.

Cuts are tiered by client history. New clients book a MasterCut visit that includes a shape and texture consultation, Hair Scalp Renewal Therapy and Curl Revival. Returning clients can choose a dry cut with wash and styling, a version with scalp renewal and styling, or a dry cut alone, which is limited to returning clients. Curl Revival is a longer treatment that starts with a hair facial with double detox, then a scalp treatment, pH balancing and hydration, followed by styling and drying.

Extensions are a major part of the work. K-tip consultations, offered in person or by video, cover maintenance, aftercare, color and length goals. K-tip installation takes most of a day and includes a cut, scalp renewal, installation, styling and education, though the hair for the extensions is not included and an extension consultation is required first. Clients with microlink extensions installed by Alex can book a removal visit that takes the extensions out and then washes, detoxes and treats natural hair.

Color runs from glosses and root coverage to full head and partial highlights, extra full highlights and all-over lightening for shades lighter than the natural color. Color consultations assess hair health, history and goals, and the fee is deducted when a color appointment is booked. Olaplex treatment is included in some color and highlight services.

Deposits range from $25 to $1,500 depending on the service. Changes to appointments need at least 72 hours' notice. Cancelling within 48 hours of an appointment, or not showing up, carries a fee of 50% of the scheduled total. Deposits are nonrefundable and are applied to the cost of the service.
