Caffeine and other stimulants should be avoided for up to four hours beforehand. For the first day or two afterward, heat and water are off-limits, which covers hot showers, saunas, steam bathing and pool time. Sleeping on the back is recommended, and only oil-free products should be used around the eyes. Mascara and curlers should not be used on the extensions.
