Dr. Sam Lam founded the practice in 2002. The surgery center is Joint Commission accredited and is integrated with Dr. Lam's office suites, so pre-operative, operative and post-operative care happen in one location. Dr. Lam is on staff at Texas Health Resources in Plano, about a block away, and has a transfer arrangement from the surgery center to that hospital.

A visit usually begins with a consultation, which can be booked by phone on weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Central or by email. Consultations include a physical evaluation and a discussion of surgical and non-surgical options, and carry a $250 fee for time spent with Dr. Lam. A credit card is required to schedule. Out-of-town patients can have a phone consultation after paying that fee and emailing standardized photos. Virtual consultation videos, learning modules, procedure explanations, FAQs and before-and-after photos are on the website before a visit. A no-show fee applies and can be applied to another service. Staff will not call about booking unless the patient has first contacted the office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm, and is closed on weekends.

The practice says it combines safety and affordability with a restorative experience and describes the surgery center as luxurious and personalized. Dr. Lam performs only one cosmetic surgery per day. Team members are not outsourced and take part in each stage of the patient experience. Accepted payments are cash, credit card and financing.
