Dr. Sam Lam

Dr. Sam Lam owns Lam Facial Plastics, where he works as a surgeon focused on facial plastic and reconstructive procedures. He graduated cum laude from Princeton University and went on to Baylor College of Medicine for medical school. He then completed six years of head and neck surgery training at Columbia University, followed by a fellowship in New York covering facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and a separate cosmetic surgery fellowship. He also spent time abroad learning from Japanese and Korean surgeons who specialize in the Asian face, and his specialty training spanned about twelve years after college. He holds MD, FACS and FISHRS credentials. He is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Board of Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the American College of Surgeons, and he belongs to the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society. He served as president of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery in 2021, sits on the boards of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Academy, and serves as an oral examiner for the former. Earlier, he chaired the Academy's multimedia committee for more than ten years, edited the Academy's consumer guide the Face Book, and chaired the Academy's fall 2016 meeting in Nashville. His practice includes deep plane facelifts and deep neck lifts, facial fat grafting, ethnic rhinoplasty for Asian, African, Hispanic and Middle Eastern faces, FUE hair restoration for men and women, eyelid surgery and ptosis correction, Botox and MesoTox, micro cannula filler injections, lip reduction and otoplasty. He generally does not recommend the mini facelift and favors a deep plane approach. He is known for correcting results from procedures performed elsewhere. He has written more than 250 scientific papers and book chapters and several textbooks, including Comprehensive Facial Rejuvenation and Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face. He has lectured more than 250 times in the United States and abroad. His listed awards include the John Orlando Roe Research Award in 2002, the Golden Follicle Award from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and a lifetime achievement award from the Society of Hair Transplant Surgeons. He was named Surgeon of the Month for January and February 2009 by the Hair Transplant International Forum, and he has been named one of the Best Doctors in Collin County. Surgeons from Europe, Canada and South America travel to train under him, and patients come from across North America, South America, Europe and Asia. He speaks French and Spanish, and he has been featured in national media, including CNN, CBS, ABC, Fox and The New York Times.
