L+R Pro Studio

L+R Pro Studio grew out of an apprenticeship program that co-owners Heather Lankford and Jacky Reyna started in 2014. The education side was branded L+R Pro in 2022, and the brick-and-mortar studio at 461 S Jennings Ave opened in May 2023. The name combines the two owners' maiden names, Lankford and Reyna, and the owners say it reflects women's empowerment.

The studio describes itself as a private, luxury hair studio. Clients book personalized hair appointments online through the site. The space also hosts education classes, other classes, and classes taught by outside stylists.

For stylists, the one-year apprenticeship opens with a 90-day evaluation and is followed by bi-weekly classes over eight months. The curriculum covers cutting, color theory, color classes, self-growth, correcting habits that hold a stylist back, and building the skills of a luxury stylist. Shadowing days let a guest follow a chosen stylist through a full day of clients, ending with a 30-minute wrap-up. Extension shadowing is not offered.

Business coaching is aimed at self-employed stylists and covers strategy, policies, price increases, work-life balance, budgeting and taxes. Sessions can be virtual and run weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, or be booked one at a time. A complimentary discovery call is offered before coaching begins. An ebook series for stylists covers client consultations, handling unhappy feedback, and running a self-employed business.

Private suites are rented to stylists, estheticians, barbers and beauty artists on one- or two-year leases, with single and double sharing options. Suites include privacy rooms, free parking, a spacious lounge and waiting area, and washer and dryer access. The suite listing includes a free week of vacation, and the site says the suites have high-end finishes and modern amenities.
