A visit is built around education. The salon says it explains hair care to clients at each step of the appointment. Clients are asked to create a profile on the salon's website and to opt in to text and email notifications before their first appointment. The salon does not offer takedown services, so clients need to arrive with previous styles, including braids, twists and other installs, fully removed. Arriving with those styles still in can mean losing the appointment and the deposit.
The Kurlie Collective is the salon's membership program, offered in three tiers: Essentials, Luxe and Reset. Essentials includes one monthly appointment for any natural style, one restorative treatment and one scalp scrub; choosing mini twists that month replaces the treatments and trim. Luxe includes two monthly appointments, with a restorative treatment, scalp scrub and trim, while a mini twist becomes the only appointment that month and includes treatments and trim. Reset includes two monthly appointments for any natural style, two specialized scalp care treatments, a restorative treatment and a trim, and a mini twist there is likewise the only appointment that month, with treatments and trim included. Collective members receive customized care plans, progress tracking, priority booking, event and education discounts, a branded Kurlie polo and 10% off products.
