The business was founded by Kirby Keomysay, who serves as Founder and Creative Director. The name is a shortened form of kontempo. & company. The building is directly connected to The Grind Coffeehouse, which Kirby Keomysay also owns.

The Papillion location, at 10914 Cumberland Drive Suite 107 just off 108th and Highway 370, has 9 private salon studios ranging from 101 to 188 square feet. Studios include luxury finishes, modern sconces and pendant lighting, built-in custom cabinetry, quartz countertops with a coordinating backsplash, and under-cabinet lighting. Glass partitions let natural light through, and pull-down window shades provide privacy. Studios are fully furnished with a styling chair, shampoo chair, and portable workstation, and select studios have European stand-behind shampoo bowls, including tilting models.

Both locations offer 24/7 secured access and a digital directory for guest check-in, along with complimentary WiFi and utilities. Shared areas include a communal fireplace lounge, shared bathrooms, a break room, and on-site laundry, and a sound system plays ambient music in common spaces.

Education is part of the offering. Elkhorn offers select education opportunities for beauty professionals, and Papillion offers occasional educational opportunities.
