Kimm Artistry

Kimm Artistry is a permanent makeup studio and academy in San Jose. It is owned by Kimm, who works as an artist and trainer and has been in the permanent makeup field for over six years. Clients can book through the Book Now button on the website.

Before any service, the studio talks through a client's concerns and answers questions, then assesses facial features and works in the client's wishes. Brow and eyeliner services include Ombre Powder Brows ($600, about 3 hours 10 minutes), Combo Brows that pair nano hairstrokes with shading ($700, about 2 hours), correction and cover-up brows ($675, about 3 hours 30 minutes), Dusty Eyeliner Tattoo ($500, about 3 hours) and fine line tattoos. Lip Blush & Neutralization is offered at $500, along with touch-ups for brows, eyes or lips starting at $100, and Saline Tattoo Lightening starting at $120.

Preparation and aftercare are spelled out for clients. Brow and eyeliner aftercare runs 7 to 14 days and includes keeping scabs intact and avoiding sweat, swimming and sun for a month. Before brow work, clients avoid waxing, threading, plucking and tinting for two weeks, and skip coffee and alcohol for 72 hours. Lip work requires no lip fillers or Botox for a month. Saline lightening needs eight full weeks of healing between sessions and often takes two to five sessions; the studio notes that results cannot be predicted or guaranteed.

Lash and waxing services include Lash Extensions ($160, about 2 hours), the Emergency Li-ft ($150, about 1 hour), brow lamination, and waxing ($15, about 1 hour). The booking site groups the lash, lift and brow lamination services under Naturally Edited. A 30-minute in-person consultation costs $45, and a 10-minute virtual consultation is also offered.

The studio also teaches permanent makeup. Kimm created the Ombre Brow Training course and its manual, which runs over 150 pages. The in-person course includes live model practice, brow mapping, machine control, color theory, pigment selection, retention and client consultation, and students receive a full kit and a certificate of completion. Cohorts run monthly in San Jose with limited seats. A $500 retainer holds a seat, and the balance is due in person on the first day. Training days run 7 to 8 hours with lunch provided. California does not require a cosmetology or esthetics license to enroll, and the studio does not license students. Graduates receive online support, can shadow Kimm on a client, and are invited to a refresher course.
