Clients come from Solana Beach, Encinitas, Del Mar and the wider North County San Diego area for body sugaring, facials, diamond microdermabrasion and an ionic foot bath.

Sugaring removes body hair with a lukewarm paste made from sugar, lemon juice and water. The paste is applied and removed in the direction of hair growth, and each client gets a freshly made ball of paste. Treatments can be repeated every three to six weeks once hair is at least 1/16 inch long, and the studio sugars clients of all ages, including teens. Ladies' areas run from small spots such as the nipples and chin up to full legs with feet and toes, and men's areas run from the outer ears and nostrils up to a full back or full leg.

Before a sugaring appointment, clients are asked to exfoliate and hydrate every two to three days, but not on the day before, the day of or the day after the service. For the 24 hours around a session, clients should avoid sun, exercise and lotions. Appointments are not booked for clients who are taking antibiotics, and sugaring is not done over varicose veins, phlebitis, new scars, sunburned skin, warts, moles, skin tags, bruises or lesions, or on skin with recent topical retinoids or vitamin C, or within a year of surgery scars.

The facial includes a steamy cleanse, skin analysis, exfoliation, extractions, a massage and a mask. A back-only version called the back-cial and a micro-facial are also offered. Facials use products from the CA Botana and The Image Ormedic lines. Diamond microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, crystal-free mechanical exfoliation intended to encourage skin renewal; after treatment the skin is misted with oxygen and antioxidants. The studio recommends a series of six to twelve treatments about two weeks apart, then maintenance every four to six weeks, and asks clients to stop acids, retinoids, scrubs, waxing, laser and tanning at least five days beforehand. It is not done on severe cystic acne, rosacea, active cold sores, open lesions, dermatitis, sunburned skin or after recent Accutane use.

The ionic foot bath is a 30-minute treatment using water charged with positive and negative ions, offered as a single session or a package of five. The salon says the foot bath can help with skin problems, headaches and inflammation. The studio also runs barre and yoga classes, both private and group, under the KIKA Rituals name, and offers reiki and sound bowl healing sessions, including group sound baths and an energy enhancement system session in which the client reclines while the system runs.

The salon says it uses only the finest all-natural products in its services.
