About

The name Karuna means compassion, and the business describes that as the intention behind everything it does. The spa is in Jamaica Plain and draws clients from the greater Boston area. The business describes itself as a top holistic wellness spa in Boston.

The business combines neuroscience, hypnosis and traditional spa therapies. Its premise is that addressing emotional blockages and negative thought patterns can change how a person feels both physically and emotionally, so many of its treatments pair a hands-on service with guided hypnosis. The HypnoSpa Experience is the clearest example, adding hypnosis to a massage, facial or body treatment.

Facials are customized on the day of treatment to the client's skin, with hydration, anti-aging and breakout-clearing among the goals listed. They begin with lymphatic massage and rely on hands-on technique, using PCA Skin products and Celluma red light therapy. Full-body treatments add exfoliation, wraps on a heated bed, and a choice of firming, detoxifying or CBD-infused nourishing options.

Massage therapy covers relaxation, therapeutic deep tissue, lymphatic drainage, prenatal, medical, sports and orthopedic work, and a Digital Wellness Escape aimed at the head, neck, shoulders, arms and feet. Energy healing includes Reiki in person or remotely, chakra work, and shamanic healing sessions. Quantum healing offers QHHT sessions, based on a method developed by Dolores Cannon, and HQT sessions, which the founder developed.

The business says its services are complementary and holistic. They are not intended to diagnose or treat conditions and do not replace medical or psychological care. Intentional Goddess Circles are women's gatherings hosted at a location the client chooses in Boston or nearby cities, and Karuna also offers a membership with monthly credit and packages.

Combines neuroscience, hypnosis and traditional spa therapies, and treats emotional patterns and subconscious roots alongside the physical concern rather than only relieving symptoms. The business says its services are not a substitute for medical or psychological care.
