Karibbean Kinks serves men, women and children with natural hair from its location on Ritchie Road in Capitol Heights. Its menu is centered on locs, covering starter services for kids and adults, maintenance and retwisting, interlocking, styling, loc treatments, extensions and consultations.

The salon also sells natural hair products, including Loc n Jam kits, hair and scalp oil, several gels, rose water spray, edge control, Kray K oil and a coffee table look book on loc styling. Its own gel kits come in two sizes. It also offers gift cards, bulk orders and wholesale.

Loc extensions and Instant Locs both require a consultation appointment before booking. A Client Consultation is a 25-minute meeting to look at hair concerns and options, and the salon does not resolve those concerns at that visit. A Color Consultation is shorter, about 10 minutes. Adult starter locs use the traditional brick layering parting with two strand twist and include a starter loc kit; the salon does not start sisterlocs.

The salon runs an Apprentice Program, a five-month hands-on course for hair enthusiasts and stylists. Applicants need to be able to do a basic loc retwist and choose a braiding level of either basic cornrows or cornrows with extensions. Brides and grooms can request wedding loc styles, and the bridal inquiry form includes an optional event date.

For payment, the salon prefers credit or debit card or cash. It does not accept returns.
