The salon offers a gentle, eco-conscious visit that avoids harsh chemicals and the heavy fragrances found in many traditional salons. Jean Marie states that for a decade she has been at the front of Massachusetts' push for organic, animal-free and sustainable hair care. The salon itself calls its experience unmatched.

A first visit starts with an in-depth consultation, offered at no charge by appointment. The stylist then recommends services, shapes a personalized look and coaches clients on caring for their hair at home. Every shampoo includes a scalp massage. Haircut and blow-dry visits run one to two hours, curly cuts one and a half to two and a half hours, color with a cut two to three hours, and highlights or balayage two to four hours. Prices for longer or thicker hair reflect the extra time they need.

Booking rules: first-time clients arrive 15 minutes early to complete a client card, and confirmation calls go out at least one business day before an appointment. Missed appointments not cancelled 24 hours ahead are charged, and late arrivals have their service shortened while the full price stands. Clients who are not satisfied may reschedule within one week of the service. Children are welcome but must be supervised, and phones are asked to stay silent during services unless there is an emergency. Gratuities are appreciated, with the salon suggesting $2 to $5 for the shampoo assistant. Gift certificates are available in any amount for any service. The phone number is 617.957.1932.
