The studio was started by Jasmine "Jazz" Brown, who began doing hair in college, first for free. She started charging for locs after several months of that work. After moving to Houston she worked as a travel stylist, driving to clients' homes, and about six months later moved into a shop. Social media has been the main source of new clients, and her early bookings came through direct messages and daily posts.

Booking runs on a fixed schedule. Appointments open on the 15th of each month at midnight for dates through the end of the following month. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00am to 8:00pm, with the studio closed Sunday and Monday. A non-refundable deposit secures any service and is applied to the total. The balance can be paid in cash or by Zelle to the owner at the visit; Cash App and other person-to-person apps are not accepted, and Apple Pay adds a $5 fee.

Several services begin with a consultation, including loc extensions, loc repair, freeform transformations, instant locs, starter locs and color. The consultation is also for clients who may need significant repair or who are unsure what they need. Product and service recommendations come out of that conversation and the hair care goals a client describes. Clients may bring their own preferred products for stylists to use when suitable. Weddings, special events and color services need to be discussed before booking, and a parent or guardian must remain present for a child's appointment.
