The salon's mission is called The Standard of Excellence. Stylists are handpicked and trained through the company's own education program. Every stylist has completed the JJS advanced program in cutting, color, styling and extensions. The JJS Academy is a hands-on advanced course in color, cutting, styling and extension installation, and the Apprenticeship Program runs 14 to 16 weeks. Apprentices complete the JJS Academy to become Foundation Stylists, and recent graduates assist educators and take model appointments at reduced rates under supervision. Stylists move through ten levels, from Apprentice to Level 8 Visionary Director, based on certified education, years behind the chair, written criteria and demand for their time. All ten levels train in the same Principle-Based Design system.

A visit starts with a complimentary consultation, which gives an exact price before booking. Pricing follows the stylist chosen: the listed starting prices are Foundation Stylist rates, and each level up adds to them. Each service is charged separately, and the exact price for the chosen stylist shows when booking online. Online booking for curly haircuts takes a 50 percent deposit that is applied to the service. Pay over time options for extensions are available through the booking system, subject to approval. Optional add-ons include scalp massage, steam treatment and warm towel, with steam treatment charged extra. Gift cards are also offered.

The signature services are balayage, Curly Hair Experience, hair extensions and the JJS Cutting Specialist precision haircut. Hand painted balayage is graduated from a natural root to lighter ends, starting at $119 for face framing and $163 for full. Partial balayage takes two to three hours and full balayage three to four hours, including toner and finish, and most balayage visits end with a toner or glaze, priced separately. Clients are usually seen 10 to 16 weeks apart, with a toner or glaze every six to eight weeks suggested in between. Curly haircuts take one to two hours and are cut dry, one curl at a time, by Certified Curl Specialists, who show clients how to style curls at home. Hand tied extensions are installed with no glue and no heat on the attachment, and K-tips are attached strand by strand with a keratin bond and removed at the salon. Extension hair is Fearless Mane, described as 100 percent Remy human hair and color matched to the guest.

Occasion appointments open with a consultation and a trial run, and the final look is set and quoted before the event day. A 50 percent deposit secures the booking, and the remaining balance is payable seven days ahead of the event. Cancellations received at least two weeks in advance are refunded in full; anything closer than that means the deposit is forfeited. Every booking covers one finished hairstyle, and extra looks can be arranged in advance. Bridal hair, bridal parties and event hair styling can be done at a location or on site, and on-location styling carries a $500 minimum plus travel fees.

Stylist levels and prices reflect certified education, years behind the chair and guest demand, and every service begins with a free consultation. Color is formulated for each client's hair, with pre-color and bond repair treatments available.
