Shear Joy Salon opened in 2016, founded by Mandy and Ken Williams. It began as a group of stylists who had worked together at an earlier salon and later moved into a shared loft-style space. The business now runs two locations, in Safety Harbor and on Clearwater Beach.

The salon calls itself education-based and names education, encouragement and experience as its core values. It says it offers continued education for staff and keeps them up to date on industry trends. Its associate program is for newly licensed or beginner cosmetologists, who work alongside a master stylist, bring in their own guests, and are assessed before moving onto the floor as New Talent Stylists.

Bridal and event hair and makeup can be arranged on location, with a travel fee quoted for each event. Clearwater Beach adds head spa services and therapeutic massage, including deep tissue, sports, hot stone, prenatal, lymphatic drainage, cupping and medical or rehab massage.
