About

The name comes from the Interlude restaurant and piano bar that opened in San Jose in 1957 and was run by the owner's grandfather. The first location was on Third Street in Livermore, and the salon is now at 1776 First Street.

The salon describes itself as not a traditional hair salon, with detail-oriented stylists and a relaxed, family-friendly setting. It aims for clients to leave feeling good, not only pleased with how they look, and its stated priority is helping each client reach their hair goals, whether that means basic upkeep or a dramatic change. The team says it aims to offer any requested service with confidence and precision, and it does not offer services the team does not believe in. The salon is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm. Sunday and Monday are by appointment only. After a booking, the salon reviews the request and reaches out by text within 48 hours. Clients are asked to text the salon on arrival, and staff greet them at the door.

Corrective color is charged at $125 per hour, and that rate includes all products used in the session. Olaplex or Brazilian Bond Builder can be added for $10 per hour. Sessions are billed by the hour because the length depends on what the hair history reveals. Each corrective color gets a custom plan built around the client's budget and goal. To start planning, clients can send photos of their current hair in natural light, photos of their goal hair, three years of hair history, their schedule availability and their budget. Consultations are available in person, and the salon says text or direct message is usually the faster way to begin. Clients can also contact their stylist directly through the booking page.

Hair extensions require a $500 deposit when scheduling, which is applied at the visit and is not refunded if the appointment is cancelled outside the cancellation window. Purchased extensions are non-refundable. Clients must complete the Extension Waiver, found under forms on the website, before an extension appointment is booked. If a client is unhappy with a service, they should say so at the appointment or within 48 hours afterward. Redo services are complimentary when the fault is the stylist's and the client gets in touch within 48 hours. Corrective redos are not scheduled if the salon is notified more than 48 hours after the original service. Additional color sessions needed to reach a result are not counted as redos. Services are non-refundable. Retail products can be returned within 5 days of purchase, and salon credit applies to retail only. A deposit may be required to book. Cancellations or reschedules made less than 48 hours ahead, and no-shows without 48 hours notice, carry a $50 fee or 50% of the services reserved. The fee goes on the card on file. Clients more than 15 minutes late may have their appointment rescheduled. Services are not performed on clients with head lice until treatment is complete and the client has been lice-free for 7 days. Gift certificates must be presented as a card or number, are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Builds a custom plan for each corrective color with the client's satisfaction and the health of the hair in mind, and shapes plans around the client's budget.

The salon describes its setting as fun, relaxed and family-friendly.
