Innovative Hair Solutions was founded in 2006 by Leanne Mills, who began her career as a stylist working with many kinds of hair. She started the studio after finding that other salons could not work with clients whose hair was fine, thin, damaged or affected by a condition. The studio began by offering micro link extensions and hair replacement to women whose thinning hair was not covered well by traditional weaves and extensions. The studio says it has helped hundreds of men and women with hair loss over about 20 years.

Visits begin with a free, private consultation that lasts 60 minutes with Leanne Mills. There is no pressure to book afterward. She assesses the scalp and existing hair in person, and pricing is not quoted remotely; clients receive a precise written quote for their specific topper at that appointment. Clients do not need a dermatologist's diagnosis before booking. The studio is by appointment only, open 10 AM to 5 PM seven days a week, and does not take walk-ins. Each appointment takes place in a private studio, so no other clients share the room. If a client's hair is not a fit for the studio's methods, the studio says it will say so and refer them to a suitable option.

The studio's main services are extensions, hair pieces and custom hair toppers. Link extensions are offered for people with hair loss or fine, thinning hair, and the system can be adjusted to the coverage needed. K-Tip extensions use keratin tips prebonded to virgin-sourced human hair and suit layered, blended and colored styles. Tape-in extensions are also offered. Custom hair toppers are built in the Beverly Hills studio and matched to color, texture and density. Custom toppers take 4 to 8 weeks to build and, with proper care, the studio estimates they last approximately 12 to 24 months. Custom hair systems for men are also made, with full systems bonded and lighter toppers often clipping in.

The studio neither diagnoses nor treats medical hair-loss conditions, and it makes no promise that hair will grow back. The IHS Link System may not be a good match for some cases of scarring alopecia or very advanced hair loss, so a consultation is what settles whether it fits. Custom human-hair toppers cost between $1,200 and $6,000, with the final price set by size, hair density and base construction. Hair quality and length, base type, coverage area, custom fitting, hand-tying and density customization also shape the price. The studio puts the yearly cost of a topper, replacements and salon care included, at $2,000 to $7,000 or more. Certain health plans might cover cranial prosthetics when a doctor provides a Letter of Medical Necessity, though coverage differs from plan to plan.

The studio builds its methods around protecting clients' existing hair and says it does not use any method that would damage existing hair to add new hair. It describes itself as a specialist for changing or thinning hair rather than a regular salon, and says it will refer clients elsewhere when a service is not suitable.
