About

The academy has offered makeup education since 2009 and was founded by Ebony Miller, who leads it as founder and CEO. It describes itself as Atlanta's premier makeup academy and says its curriculum is award-winning; both are the academy's own claims. The studio sits in the retail section of the M Street Complex, with free parking behind the gate beside the building.

Training runs from a self-paced online course to a two-week weekday program and a weekend hybrid. The online course covers more than 32 hours of video and written material with downloadable worksheets, and online students can join live bi-weekly coaching sessions with instructors. Students can buy a student kit through the academy, supplied by Graftobian and Make Up For Ever, or bring their own kit for the Pro and Master certification courses.

Personal lessons start with a review of the client's skincare and makeup collection and a skin assessment, followed by hands-on application and a custom take-home guide. Shopping trips take place at Sephora at Atlantic Station, Sephora at Ponce City Market, or Ulta at Howell Mill, with no extra travel fee. Free 15-minute tours, in person or virtual, are offered to people who want to learn about the programs.

The academy does not offer makeup services at its studio. Instead it runs a referral system that connects clients with its graduates for booking.

Enrollment policies cover payment and withdrawal. The academy does not accept federal financial aid but offers a payment plan; for 60-hour courses the plan starts with a $400 deposit. A full refund is available if requested within 5 business days of signing the student contract, and no refunds are given after 20% of the coursework has been taught. Students must attend at least 75% of classes to graduate, and missed weekend classes cannot be made up. According to the academy's FAQ, a cosmetology license is not required to do makeup.

Education-first makeup artistry training, from self-paced online study to in-person courses, paired with tailored one-on-one lessons.
