The studio is on the second floor of a building on Ravenswood Avenue. Street parking is nearby, and it can be reached by car or by public transit, with the Brown Line stop at Damen and the Ravenswood Metra station within walking distance. The studio lists Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Andersonville, Lakeview, North Center and Roscoe Village as its service areas. Every service includes a complimentary consultation, and skincare plans and product suggestions are tailored to each client's concerns and skin type. The studio describes its treatments as relaxing.
Brow services range from waxing with an all-natural wax and shaping to tinting, lamination and a hybrid dye/stain option, and a brow bar service is also offered. Brow lamination changes the direction brow hair grows for a fuller, wispy look. Lash services include tints in blue, black or violet, matched to hair color or a chosen shade, and lash lifts that last up to 4-6 weeks. Lash lifts need to stay dry for at least 24 hours afterward and strenuous exercise should be avoided for about a day. Brow waxing is not available to clients on acne medication, who should request tweezing when booking, and retinol use should stop one week before and after waxing.
Products are all-natural and clean. The studio carries Environ skincare, which is infused with nutrients such as vitamin A and can be picked up in the studio or bought from the online store. Products from Ellebana Lashes, Henne Organic and Ecobrow are also sold, along with lash lift aftercare and mascara from major brands. Gift cards can be applied to services or to online store purchases.
Booking is available online through the studio's Glossgenius page, and clients can also call 312-515-2975 or email hello@illumebrowskinstudio.com. Clients receive a reminder email two days before their service. Clients more than 10 minutes late are charged the full service fee. Cancellations or no-shows within 24 hours are charged the full fee, and changes made within 48 hours are charged half the fee, which cannot be applied to the new appointment. Beauty product sales are final, and a client with an adverse reaction to a product bought at the studio receives an exchange or a credit. Tips are welcome but not required.
Skincare plans and product suggestions are customized to each client's concerns and skin type. Licensed estheticians seek mentorship from beauty industry leaders to keep up with trends and techniques.
