Hummingbird Beauty was founded in 2013 by Hue Vo, who had spent several years at a Korean cosmetic company before opening the spa. It has three locations: a main studio at Story Road in San Jose, a second San Jose site on Almaden Expressway, and a location in Foster City. The main San Jose location is open from 10 AM to 6 PM every day.

The spa says its aim is to bring out the beauty clients already have. Visits usually start with a consultation to find the right program. Estheticians then build a customized home skincare routine, recommend products for each client and set up a maintenance plan, taking nutrition, daily habits and past skincare history into account. Monthly maintenance facials are recommended for nutrition and hydration, and treatment is adjusted to each client's comfort. The spa notes that results vary from person to person.

Body contouring is non-surgical and non-invasive. The main body program covers the belly, back, arms, thighs and buttocks, runs about 45 minutes, and is booked as a program, so clients can stop once they reach the result they want. Sessions are recommended about once a week, and treatments for different body areas can be combined on the same day. Clients must be 18 or older and pass a brief screening. The spa says results diminish over time, and estheticians estimate how long results last with and without maintenance.

Pricing has a few entry points. VIP membership costs $95 a year, does not renew automatically, and its discounts apply to every appointment and can be combined with other HB promotions. Members save $30 on treatments and body contours, and smaller amounts on selected facials and add-ons. A first-try special takes 20% off facial programs, and a package offers sessions at a reduced rate with the sixth free. New clients can book a free 15-minute tightening and contour demo or a free tightening and face contour service. Gift cards are sold through the Vagaro booking system.
