The studio was started by Tassara Azad, who began doing hair from home in 2018. That work grew into House of Braid. Clients can upload a picture of their own hair design when booking, and questions before an appointment can be sent by text.

Some styles are simpler versions of others. Sweetheart, for example, is made as two Dutch braids and is a lighter option than the Playful style. Sweetheart does not include colored extensions, so clients bring their own. Add-ons are available, including rhinestones for $20 and a set of 8 rings with 5 minutes added for $5.

Events are a large part of the business. The team travels to the client's venue for birthday parties, bridal parties and corporate events such as brand launches, conferences and wellness days, and braid party packages are offered for groups of friends. Event bookings begin with a consultation or a message through the contact page.

Classes are offered in person and online. The in-person Hands-on MasterClass runs for five hours and covers signature braiding and hairstyling techniques. Supplies and lunch are included, no prior hair experience is needed, and everyone who completes an in-person class receives a certificate. The virtual Zoom class, priced from $300, also runs five hours with recorded content and live Q&A. After registering, students are shipped a mannequin head, hair products and accessories, and recorded sessions can be watched at their own pace.

The business says its products are designed to help people feel confident and polished in their styling, with clean formulas, invisible clip-in extensions and professional tools.
