Holistic Hair Sanctuary has operated since 2007 and is run by its owner, Azareah S. The studio's stated mission is to give natural hair clients a safe, comfortable and relaxed place for their care. Its ethos draws on two traditional African principles and symbols: the duafe, a wooden comb, and the mpuannum, a symbol of five tufts of hair.

The studio works by appointment only and runs as a private boutique space, with one-on-one and silent appointments available. It is on the lower level of Salontra Select Suites. Guests are offered complimentary snacks and drinks and can use the Salontra Cafe seating area, though outside food is not allowed in the suite. Appointments are held Wednesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm, and children are not allowed in the suite during services.

New guests complete a Digital Consultation Form before scheduling and pay a non-refundable $50 deposit when booking online with a credit card. Consultations come in two forms: a virtual session for $30, up to 30 minutes on Zoom or Google Meet, or an in-person session for $50, usually 45 to 60 minutes, covering a hair and scalp assessment, a customized care regimen, product recommendations and styling options. Consultation fees are separate from service costs and non-refundable. Payment is due at the end of service, and cash is not accepted.

Microlocks are installed across three appointments: a consultation with a hair and scalp analysis, the installation itself, and a follow-up for cleansing, an initial retie and a retightening schedule. If the hair and scalp are healthy enough, 6 to 9 test locs are installed first to be worn for a few weeks. Installation takes one to three days depending on size and foundation, and the studio offers interlocking and two-strand twists in a range of sizes but no extension service. All microlocks pricing is set at consultation and is not quoted over the phone. The studio also offers hair and scalp restoration, which covers head spa services, care for dandruff and itchy scalp, breakage care, product education and personalized at-home regimens. An initial restoration consultation takes about 90 minutes and includes a trichoscope scalp review, with a written analysis and treatment plan sent by email within 48 to 72 hours. When a scalp condition is outside the salon's scope of practice, a dermatologist referral may be given.
