Hera is a one-technician studio run by founder and lead artist Elysia An. The studio is in the space formerly used by New Seoul Hotel, and the studio notes that no one named Hera works there.
Before opening in Los Angeles, An worked for more than 20 years in celebrity makeup and tattoo work, including clients from K-pop, K-dramas and K-fashion in South Korea. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a PMU technician in the area. The studio says it has served celebrities and was featured on Destination LA, hosted by Crystal Lee.
A visit begins with a consultation in which the client draws their own brow shape, so the artist can see preferences before any work begins. The consultation also settles color, shape, length and thickness, and the design is built around each client's features and face shape. The studio says it can coordinate a full face to match each client's features and preferred style. The full appointment, including numbing, consultation and tattooing, runs about 1.5 to 2 hours. A complimentary optional touch-up within one month of the first session takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.
The studio offers a $100 non-refundable deposit per appointment, paid by Venmo at booking. Cash and major credit or debit cards are accepted; American Express and checks are not. Children are not permitted at appointments, and clients must be 18 or older for any tattoo service. Parking is free with validation, provided to all clients at the Serrano Avenue entrance.
The studio says it specializes in correcting less desirable results from earlier cosmetic tattoo work, and that the same new-client price applies regardless of who did previous work.
Elysia An keeps up with new tools, techniques and materials and designs each brow, eyeliner or hairline around the client's own features.
