Owner Heidi Albeno works as a curl specialist and as a color and color correction specialist. Curly cuts are done on dry hair, so clients arrive with clean, completely dry hair and no bun, ponytail, braids or hats. The Works Curly Cut, about two hours, includes a consultation, a custom dry cut and a lesson on caring for the style at home. The Works Deluxe Curly Cut, about two hours 55 minutes, adds a detox, a repair or moisture treatment and styling. Existing clients whose last cut was within the past four months can book The Curly Express Cut, a one-hour maintenance cut; otherwise The Works Curly Cut is recommended.

Color services begin with a strand test, which is recommended before color or highlight work. Options include gloss, a low-commitment demi color that adds shine and refreshes tone and lasts about four to six weeks; shadow and gloss, which blends a darker custom tone at the roots; full color; root touch-ups; partial highlights or foilyage; and full highlights or balayage. Clients should arrive with clean, detangled, dry hair and no oils, creams or styling product.

Other services include the Curl Therapy, the Curl Set, kids curly haircuts for ages 2 to 6, express wet haircuts for short or mid-length non-curly hair, bangs, blow-dries, scalp therapy, moisture and protein treatments, detangling or dematting and a Brazilian treatment. Bridal event hair trials are done in studio, or as a house call with a traveling fee that varies by location. Appointments that do not follow the prep instructions may be rescheduled and may be subject to a 50 percent fee under the 48-hour cancellation policy.

Each look is worked out with the client step by step, with the client kept informed and in approval as the service goes on. Cuts are finished with a lesson or maintenance advice so the style can be kept up at home.
