Haus of Divinity

Haus of Divinity operates from Philadelphia Street in Uptown Whittier as a collective of independent beauty artists. Rather than one team doing everything, clients can book a range of services with different artists in the same place, which the business describes as a one-stop experience. The business says it welcomes clients of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races and religions.

The collective grew out of its owner's own path. Kim Rosado began working out of a home space, then opened a studio in Downey, CA, and later moved to Whittier to open Haus of Divinity. She works as an esthetician and teaches under the name Divinity by Kim.

Brow services include a brow wax and shaping, and Ombré Brows permanent makeup, which takes at least two hours and is priced at $300. Lash extensions and lifts are offered, and there is a full sugar waxing menu covering the face, arms, legs, back, underarms and intimate areas, with prices from $10 for a lip wax to $85 for an extended Brazilian. Facials, nail services and makeup round out the menu. Special event hair and makeup is priced at $350 when booked together, and special event makeup alone is $200, with a $50 deposit to book. Special event hairstyling starts at $150, with styles such as updos and braids costing an additional $50. Bridal hair and makeup is a package that can be done as a house call or at a destination, and pricing is set by email quote with a $200 deposit. Nails are offered at MA Nails, which lists structured manicures and Gel-X extensions in simple or full designs at $70, taking one and a half to two hours.

Education is a major part of the business. The Sugar Waxing Course is a 6 to 8 hour hands-on class priced at $999 and covers full body and Brazilian waxing, sanitation, anatomy, contraindications and consent forms. The Master Brow Course is a two-day class priced at $1555 that covers brow wax shaping, tinting and lamination, with a shadow day and ongoing support. The Lash Lift and Tint Course is a 5 to 6 hour class priced at $700. The business describes its courses as taught by licensed professionals and as beginner friendly. A 1:1 private makeup lesson, priced at $250, builds one chosen look with the instructor demonstrating on half the face while the student follows on the other half, and includes a take-home brush set, beverages and snacks. Tiny Cindy Makeup lists its own hours as Wednesday 12 to 7 PM, Thursday 11 AM to 6 PM, Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM, closed Monday, Tuesday and Sunday.

Bookings are by appointment only. Deposits are non-refundable, and all services are non-refundable. Rescheduling needs 48 hours notice, and the deposit carries over to the new date. Same-day cancellations are charged 50% of the remaining cost, and no-call no-shows are charged the full balance. Appointments are canceled if a client arrives more than 15 minutes late unless stated otherwise, and a $5 late fee applies for every 5 minutes after the first 10 minutes late. Clients with cold or flu-like symptoms are asked to cancel. Brazilian services are for clients 18 and over, or accompanied by a legal guardian. Booking means the client accepts the listed risks, including irritation and infection. Gift cards are available, AfterPay is accepted, and Buy Now, Pay Later is available in person for bookings from $50 to $4,000, subject to approval before the appointment.
