HARD AS NAILS STUDIO

Hard as Nails Studio is a nail studio in Tampa that the business describes as the home of the world's best hand holders. That is the studio's own claim and is not independently verified. Its menu centres on two services: Gel X extensions and Luminary overlays.

Every visit starts with a consultation about the client's nail goals. Gel X appointments include cuticle work with an E-File and Russian manicure bits, which lift and clip away dead skin, followed by light shaping of the natural nail with a hand file in a grit that is safe for natural nails. Each Gel X tip is sized, prepped, applied and shaped for the individual client, and clients choose one color polish or a nail art design made with the highest grade polish available. Services finish with the studio's signature cuticle oil.

Luminary overlays are offered to clients with long natural nails who want an alternative to acrylic, dip or hard gel. The service includes a consultation, cuticle work with an E-File and Russian manicure bits, and a rough draft shape with a hand file. A Luminary Nail Systems gel base is applied to the natural nail for strength, then buffed with an E-File and finished with a hand file for even, straight nails. Clients choose one color or nail art, and the visit ends with the cuticle oil.

Appointments are long on purpose so each set can get detailed work, and the studio says it does not rush services. Bookings open one month at a time. A waitlist runs through the booking system, and clients are notified when a cancellation matches their requested times. Openings that no waitlist request matches are posted on Instagram stories, first come, first served.

Nail art has its own rules. Requests should be sent through Instagram messages at least 24 hours before the appointment, and requests made later may not be possible within the time available. Nail art is priced by difficulty tier: simple, detailed or complex.

The studio recommends returning every three to four weeks and advises against going longer than four weeks between appointments. It does not fill Gel X applied by other artists. Removing another artist's Gel X requires a Gel X Soak Off booked alongside the service you want.

Late clients are asked to message the studio. Appointments are cancelled once a client is more than 15 minutes late. Cancellations made 24 hours or less before the appointment, and no-shows, are charged the full cost of the service. Services that include nail art add $10 to those fees. Clients with unpaid fees cannot book again until they pay, and repeat no-shows cannot book.

The studio builds each set around the client's nail goals and keeps appointments unhurried so the detailed work can be done properly.
