The salon works inside Ted Isaacs on SE Bybee Blvd and centers on curly and wavy hair, including clients who want to work with their natural texture. Hours are Wednesday and Thursday from 11am to 6pm and Friday from 11am to 5pm. Clients are asked to allow extra time for parking, which can be hard to find in the neighborhood.
A first visit starts with a consultation about long-term goals, daily routine, and the length and shape the client wants. New clients book the new-client option, which allows extra time for that conversation and for teaching, and this is why new-client prices sit a little above returning-client prices. Clients come in with their hair down in its natural state, using their usual products and without a ponytail or hat. The visit closes with styling instruction covering washing through to a next-day refresh, along with product suggestions, and the salon follows up afterward to see how the cut is settling in.
The salon describes its approach as organic and freeform rather than precision cutting, so lengths are allowed to vary. It calls itself eco-conscious, using organic, nontoxic products and minimal chemicals where possible, and it recommends similar products for home use. After a visit, clients can take a free Curlcrafting @Home eBook, or purchase a video program covering the methods taught during a first appointment. Problems with a cut can be reported within seven days for adjustments at no added charge, though cuts cannot be guaranteed if hair was in a ponytail or hat beforehand. Gift cards and a referral rewards program are also available. The salon states it was voted Best Hairstylist in 2022 and 2023, placed second in 2024, was a 2025 finalist, and was listed by Mane Addicts among top U.S. salons for curly hair.
Cuts follow each client's natural texture and movement rather than mechanical precision, and the salon aims to use organic, nontoxic products with minimal chemicals where possible.
