The salon grew out of an idea from Sandy, who spent about ten years bartending along the East Coast before moving into hair. Blending hospitality with hair work shaped the salon's approach. Some of the team came over together from other Mahwah salons when a renovated space became Hairapy.
Shampoo is included in every service, and free consultations are offered. Prices depend on hair length and thickness, so longer or thicker hair costs more, and no discounts apply to chemical services. Starting prices range from $10 for a beard trim to $260 for balayage. The salon has a coffee bar and comfortable chairs for clients.
Session hours are Tuesday 9 to 4, Wednesday through Friday 9 to 7, Saturday 9 to 5 and Sunday 10 to 3, with the salon closed on Mondays. The business is listed on Facebook as Hairapy Salon and on Instagram as hairapysalonmahwah.
