Cyndi has owned Hair Event for 25 years, and most of the business comes from word of mouth. The salon describes its reputation as resting on exceptional hair coloring, and it counts color corrections, dimensional color, foiling and balayage among its specialties.

Every stylist can cut, style, color, highlight and correct color, so the salon has no separate departments. Services that take extra training, such as waxing, makeup, airbrush makeup, permanent waves and keratin smoothing, are offered by select stylists. If a stylist doesn't perform a service a client asks for, they refer the client to a colleague.

Prices are listed as starting points. They vary with each guest's needs and the level of the stylist, and they reflect Salon Team Pricing, so some stylists may charge more. Blow-dry styling starts at $34 for short hair, $36 for medium and $49 for long. Highlights start at $60 for special placement accent work, $79 for special placement partial highlighting and $109 for full highlights, and these do not include toner, glaze or styling finish. Balayage starts at $138.

Appointments can be booked by phone, and walk-ins are welcome. Online requests don't book automatically, so the team contacts clients to confirm. Clients are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Cancellations need 48 hours' notice; anything later carries a fee of 50 percent of the cancelled services. The salon accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal checks with ID and cash, with a $20 minimum for card payments. Gratuities are not included and can't be added to cards; the salon notes the industry standard is 15 to 20 percent of the service fee.

If a result doesn't meet expectations, a redo is offered at no extra charge, to be booked within 14 days for perms or 7 days for cuts, color or highlights. Current clients earn money back for referring friends and family, and new clients can find discounts on the website, in-salon specials and local advertising.

The salon gives back to the community. It provides free haircuts or buzz cuts for clients undergoing chemotherapy, and a free cut and style once their hair grows back. On Tuesdays, clients donating hair to Locks for Love receive a free haircut and styling, and they can call to book. It also supports local fundraising and donates services to community events.

Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 9am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 3pm. The salon is closed Sundays and Mondays, and it closes occasionally during the year. Children are asked to stay seated in the waiting area during visits.
