Hair by Merian is run by color specialist Merian, who works across both Antelope Valley locations and is known for dimensional balayage. The salon's color work leans toward soft brightness, dimension and correction, and the focus stays on protecting the hair while the color is done.

Each service is planned around the client's hair, daily life and the upkeep they are prepared to keep up. Keeping icy blondes icy through maintenance visits is a specialty, as is brunette-to-brighter work.

The menu is grouped under color, haircut, styling, treatment and consultation. Color services range from root and gray coverage with a style, to all-over single process color, custom highlights and foilwork with six options, dimensional balayage, a new-client lived-in color package, and corrective balayage for previous balayage that is patchy, uneven or poorly blended. Corrective work puts correction ahead of lightening.

Booking details: the new-client lived-in package requires a $50 deposit and corrective balayage requires a $45 deposit. Deposits are non-refundable but are credited toward the service. Changes need at least 24 hours' notice, and cancellations, rescheduling or no-shows inside 24 hours are charged the full service fee. All services are final, though minor technical adjustments can be requested within 48 hours and are completed within one week.

The salon does not offer platinum, scalp bleaching or vivid colors.
