Hair by G, also known as Hair by Gelareh, operates out of a private salon with one chair inside Salons By JC on Wilson Boulevard in Arlington. Parking is metered street parking nearby. Gelareh runs the studio herself, so each appointment is with the owner. Appointments are booked by text, and confirmations go out through Square. Changes requested within 48 hours after an appointment are free; changes requested later are charged. Cancellations and rescheduling need at least 48 hours' notice, and late cancellations are charged the full appointment price.

Color is the core of the work. Services range from natural shades to pastel hues, and the studio offers balayage, ombre, pulp riot, highlights, face framing highlights, glazing and toner, root touchups, and color correction. Hair dyes are oil-based and ammonia-free, and clients are asked to arrive with freshly washed and dried hair. Color correction can take more than one session and is charged beyond the booked service. Root touchups also refresh mid-lengths and ends, and any extra glaze or pull-through is billed separately. All services are priced a la carte. Many prices start at a set amount, while pulp riot and corrective color are priced after a consultation, which also sets the final price based on availability. A 30-minute consultation costs $50 or more and is credited toward the bill if a service is booked. Clients booking $75 or more in appointments receive a complimentary day pass, and daycare is available subject to availability. The site shows a 5.0 rating from 45 reviews.
