Extensions are the core of the business. Habit Salon credits itself with creating the Habit Extension Method, its own extension system, which it says has been refined over about seven years. The salon describes the method as award-winning. It also names The Perfect Blend among its creations. Three extension options are offered: the Habit Hidden Method for updo styles, the Habit Active Method for ponytails, and the Habit Clip-In Method, which lets the client decide when extensions are in. Each method is listed with a short note on the lifestyle it suits.
A visit starts with a free consultation before booking. A Habit provider looks over the client's goal photos and photos of their current hair, then pairs them with a stylist. Clients who prefer a different route can request a match through the Habit Hair Concierge by sending inspiration photos, take a stylist-matching questionnaire on the booking site, or use live chat on the website to start a consultation or book. Financing is available.
At the appointment, clients are asked to remove jewelry and are encouraged to use the changing room, store their shirt, and wear the provided smock. The stylist directs the service and mixes all color, and may bring in an assistant. Shadowing stylists may observe appointments. Prices vary between stylists and can rise with a stylist's experience level, and extension removal is not included in the original service fee. Clients agree to their photos being used on social media.
Habit offers stylist education through the Habit Beauty Guild, Habit Extension certification for stylists, and one-on-one training. The website also hosts educational videos covering how extensions are applied, how they look once installed, how to care for them, shampoo and conditioner choices, and removal.
