The Bluffdale location is one of the franchise's independently owned salons, run by a local franchisee who sets prices, makes hiring decisions and chooses which coupons to accept. Prices can vary from one location to another, and additional taxes and fees may apply.

The salon covers a broad range of cuts under one roof. Women can book bobs, blunt cuts, pixies, layers and bangs. Children and seniors have their own haircut services, and senior and student discounts are offered at many locations, to be confirmed with the salon.

Each visit starts with a personal consultation so the stylist understands the cut the client wants. The salon keeps technical notes on previous haircuts, called Clip Notes, so any stylist can give a consistent result on a return visit. Stylists are not chosen through online check-in, but a stylist can be requested in person at the front desk, which may add to the wait.

Hours include evenings and weekends: Monday to Friday 9 AM to 8 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 4 PM. Online Check-In, through the website or app, is a waitlist rather than an appointment and opens five minutes after opening. Perms and formal updos generally need a booked appointment, so clients should call the salon for those. The salon does not offer hair coloring.

The company says it trains stylists on advanced technical skills, current trends and customer care, and describes its training as industry-best. Great Clips also offers haircuts for people with sensory or special needs and will make reasonable accommodations, and it participates in Wigs for Kids at some locations, where a haircut is free with a hair donation. The salon also takes part in Clips of Kindness and supports philanthropic groups in the Bluffdale community.
