Clients walk in or check in online through greatclips.com or the Great Clips app, which shows a waitlist and an estimated wait time. Online check-in opens five minutes after the salon opens and cannot be used for perms or formal updos. Guests check in at the front desk, and they can ask for a particular stylist at that point, though a request may lengthen the wait; stylists cannot be requested through online check-in and do not publish their schedules.

Each visit starts with a consultation before the cut, and guests can bring a photo of a haircut look from the lookbook to guide the conversation. Clip Notes keep technical notes on previous haircuts, so any stylist in the chain can refer to them. The salon guarantees satisfaction on all services and products, and concerns should be raised with staff on the day.
