A visit usually begins with a short consultation with your stylist before the cut. Walk-ins are welcome, and most services don't need an appointment; perms and formal updos usually require calling the salon ahead. Online Check-In on the website or app shows current wait times and lets you add your name to the list before arriving, but it is not a booking. Hair coloring is not offered.

Stylists receive ongoing training in newer techniques, current hairstyles and client care. Clip Notes keep technical notes on previous haircuts so any Great Clips stylist can recreate a cut a client liked. The salon guarantees satisfaction with its services and products, and concerns can be raised with the staff on site.

The salon takes part in community programs. Clips of Kindness offers free clipper cuts for people undergoing cancer treatment, Wigs for Kids gives a free haircut to customers who donate hair at participating salons, and Thank a Veteran offers free haircuts or haircut cards to service members on Veterans Day.
