Each visit starts with a personalized consultation with the stylist, and guests can bring in a look from the Great Clips lookbook to guide that conversation. Stylists work with all hair types and textures and receive ongoing training in advanced techniques, current hairstyles and customer care, including the latest haircutting and barbershop methods.

Clip Notes keep technical notes on a client's previous haircuts at any Great Clips location, so a returning guest can be served by a different stylist without starting over. Online check-in, through the website or the Great Clips app, adds guests to the waitlist and shows estimated wait times, though stylist requests are made at check-in and may lengthen the wait.

The salon also takes part in several community programs: Wigs for Kids, where a customer who donates hair receives a free haircut at participating salons, Clips of Kindness, which offers complimentary clipper cuts for people undergoing cancer treatment, and Thank a Veteran on Veterans Day, offering free haircuts or haircut cards to active and veteran service members. Haircuts are also offered to people with sensory or special needs, with reasonable accommodations.

Every visit begins with a personal consultation between the guest and the stylist, and stylists are trained to work with all hair types and textures.
