Ginny's Wig Salon is a private, relaxing boutique in Gastonia where clients can browse wigs online and then try and buy them in person. The salon has private rooms for client comfort. Appointments are booked by calling the salon, not through Facebook, and the owner recommends calling ahead because stock changes daily and wigs shown online may not be on the shelf.
The salon is run by Ginny, a hairdresser and salon owner with more than 50 years in the hair industry. Ginny helps clients choose wigs for hair loss, fashion, style change, and stage and drama performances, and the salon also serves people who simply want a wig for everyday fun.
Wig stock at the salon comes from several makers: Estetica, Envy, Tony of Beverly, Henry Margu and Aspen. Shoppers will also find accessories, head wraps, hats, scarves, wig care products and clip-on hair extensions. Within Estetica's line, the Classique Collection features a Pure Stretch Cap. Front lace styles are part of the Naturalle Collection, while the High Society Collection carries mono wigs designed to look natural at the scalp. Hair toppers are no longer carried.
Shabby and Bling custom-made hats, decorated with appliqués, flowers, crystals and trims, are sold through the salon's Etsy shop with shipping within 1 to 3 days. The Hair Grip, a soft, flat, adjustable band worn under wigs and headwear to keep them from slipping, is also sold.
Some practical policies to know before visiting: wigs cannot be returned or exchanged for sanitary reasons, discounts are not offered on request (supplier discounts are built into the price), and wigs are not given free with a voucher or prescription. For a cranial prosthesis, the salon provides a receipt to submit to insurance. Clients are advised to get a prescription and check insurance wig coverage first. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 10 to 5, Friday 10 to 3 and Saturday 10 to 2, with arrival by 4:00 on weekdays and by 2:00 on Friday and Saturday. The salon is closed Sundays and Mondays, and usually on the Saturday, and sometimes the Friday, of holiday weekends. The salon is Better Business Bureau accredited, and reviews can be left on Google, Yelp and Yellow Pages.
Wigs are chosen around the individual client, with a fitting and selection process built on a personal consultation.
A private and relaxing setting with private rooms for client comfort.
