Every visit can begin with a free 15-minute consultation, which can be booked on its own. It covers the hair, what it needs and the price, and nothing is mixed or cut until the price is agreed. The price given in the chair is the price paid, and tipping is optional and goes entirely to the person who did the work. Walk-ins are welcome when the salon has room, though booking ahead is safer in summer. Parking is free right outside the door, and the salon is open all year, Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Appointment changes require at least 24 hours' notice. Guests who arrive more than fifteen minutes late may have their service shortened or be rebooked for another time. Booking doesn't require a card, but repeated missed appointments without notice could lead to a deposit being requested for the next one. Young guests can come in for their own appointment as long as an adult is present in the salon, and companions may wait inside. Gift cards are available as physical cards sold only at the salon, or as e-gift cards that can be sent immediately or scheduled by email, processed through Square.
Color is chosen from four professional lines, one of them ammonia-free, and the salon can usually order a client's own color brand or shade or match it with the lines it carries. Prices vary with hair length, density and stylist and are agreed before color is mixed. Keratin Complex smoothing takes about two hours. Bridal services include hair trials priced the same as the service they cover, wedding-day styling and a glaze the week before, and there is no charge to hold a wedding date while planning.
Gil Ferrer at Home sends a senior stylist to clients' homes by private booking. Starting prices are $800 for a blowout and styling, $1,000 for a haircut and blowout, $1,200 for an updo or event hairstyle, $1,500 for color and gloss, $1,900 for keratin, and $2,000 for highlights and balayage. Each price covers one person, the stylist's time, round-trip travel and the service, while extra guests or makeup are discussed beforehand. A deposit of half the price is payable once the visit is confirmed and is deducted from the total. Visits should be requested at least three days ahead, or earlier for summer weekends. Visits are offered in Bridgehampton, Southampton, Water Mill, Sag Harbor, East Hampton, Wainscott, Amagansett and Montauk, with other areas available on request.
Each visit starts with a consultation so the hair, the plan and the price are agreed before anything is mixed or cut.
