Erika Sorbello founded Gallery Salon in 2005 as a stylist and artist. The salon began in a different space and moved into its current spot in the Public Market after several years of growth. The earlier location was featured in Rochester Magazine.
The salon describes itself as the most creative hair and nail salon in Rochester, and it describes its stylists and nail technicians as the city's most talented. New color clients book a 30-minute color consultation, which starts at $40 and is applied to the color service if booked at that visit. Color is priced using the Vish color-weighing system, which measures the product used, and any extra product is added to the cost. Corrective color is priced a la carte after the stylist explains the plan and expected cost. Services over $200 and all new-client appointments require a 50% non-refundable deposit, and cancellations need 48 hours notice. Children should stay home unless they have an appointment, because the space has hazards unsafe for children.
Treatments are chosen around each client's specific needs.
A gallery and vintage shop share the space, and the design centers on creativity and self-expression.
