G Mayfield Skin Care is run by owner and master esthetician Gretchen Mayfield. The Portland studio is on the third floor of a building on Northwest 13th Avenue, reached through the Barista coffeeshop entrance and then the elevators. The Vancouver location sits inside Selfish Skin & Wellness on West Evergreen Boulevard and is open by appointment only.

Clinical services are offered only at the Vancouver location. The menu runs from facials and Tria-Wave microcurrent treatments to microneedling, a plasma pen eyelid tightening treatment and lesion removal for benign spots such as hyperpigmentation, hyperkeratosis, cherry angiomas, milia and skin tags. Lesion removal starts at $200, with the final cost depending on how many lesions are treated and possible discounts when it is combined with other treatments. The studio also offers a video chat for product and treatment recommendations for clients who want guidance at home.

Services and skin care products are booked through Vagaro. Guests are asked not to arrive early because each person has an allotted time slot. Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may be rescheduled or have their time shortened, and the full fee still applies. A card is needed to hold an appointment, and reminders go out five days ahead. Cancellations within 72 hours are charged the full booked price, as are no-shows. Refunds are not offered on services or opened products. Clients are asked to leave their current products at home and share their routine through the intake form or in person, and to disclose certain medical conditions and medications before a facial.

The business uses products from GlyMed Plus and SkinBetter and describes its products as medical-grade. VIP Investment Membership members save for treatments through an automated monthly plan with balances that do not expire, and they receive 10% off all product lines. Gift certificates are available. The business does not offer classes, and waxing is no longer offered, though referrals are available for it.

Guests must be 13 or older, and the studio is not set up for children. Pets are not allowed, but service dogs are welcome. The amenities include disabled access, WiFi and beer and wine. English is the spoken language listed.

Skin care routines and treatment plans are built together with each client, and the studio works with local dermatologists and a medical director for concerns beyond the owner's own expertise.
