Flux

Flux was opened by owner Erika Amuedo as a private salon loft, after years of working in salons across Northern Virginia.

Color services begin with a consultation covering skin tone, natural pigment and how much upkeep a client wants. New clients complete an online consultation form and pay a deposit before scheduling, and receive a quote by text within 24 hours of submitting the form. Online booking is open to returning clients and is limited to touch-ups.

The menu covers haircuts and blowouts, color retouches, highlights, balayage, glaze, toner and shadow root work, grey blending, deep conditioning, scalp treatments, and a color correction service priced by the hour after a consultation. Extensions are offered in tape-in and keratin fusion applications using human hair, with a separate reset service for a client's own extensions. The salon also does wedding and event hair and makeup, both as trials and on-site, along with updos, event blowouts and on-site children's party styling.

The salon is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Cancellations 24 to 48 hours ahead are charged 50% of the appointment cost, and no-shows are charged in full. Appointments cancelled within 5 hours of the service count as no-shows, and clients more than 15 minutes late may have services shortened. A 3% service fee is added to the final sale, and retail product sales are final.

The salon says it keeps strict health and safety standards and builds each service around the individual client.
