Fix Beauty Co. was founded in Kansas City in 2017 by Jessica McLeod, and bridal hair and makeup remains the core of the business. Artists travel to the wedding location, whether in Kansas City, nearby communities or a destination. Each wedding is quoted individually based on the services, timing, location and number of artists needed.

Couples often kick off planning with a bridal preview, a session that produces one finished look for each service and is usually scheduled four to six months before the big day. Previews start at $300. A $250 reservation fee holds the wedding date; it is non-refundable and counts toward the preview. According to the salon, the average wedding spend is $1,700, and each couple receives a tailored proposal. Every artist needs to be booked for four services on the wedding day, and when an artist has fewer than that, a $125 artist fee is charged. Travel for each artist costs $1 per mile for any distance beyond 15 miles round trip.

At the Leawood studio, brow and lash services are by appointment only, and Saturday bookings require a phone call. The brow menu covers waxing to shape and define brows and remove stray hairs, plant-based henna tinting that suits sensitive skin, and brow lamination, which smooths and lifts natural brow hairs over about an hour. Lash lifts with tint take one to one and a half hours, with touch-ups every six to eight weeks. Complimentary conditioning is included with both the brow lamination and the lash lift.

Custom facials begin with a consultation. Treatments are tailored and use professional-grade products, and each client leaves with a personalized home skincare routine. The facials address acne, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and anti-aging concerns.

Spray tanning is applied by airbrush using a DHA solution, and the color is expected to last five to seven days. Disposable undergarments are sold for spray tan appointments. The salon says its tanning solutions are clean, eco-friendly and paraben-free. Spray tan memberships include a 20% discount on upgrades, 10% off retail products, 50% off for friends and family, and a birthday gift. A membership can be cancelled with 30 days' notice. Clients are asked to book spray tans one to two days before an event, shower, shave and exfoliate 12 to 24 hours before, avoid water for four to six hours afterward, and have waxing, lashes, nails or hair done one to two days before tanning.

Policies: a 24-hour cancellation policy applies, and new clients must submit a valid credit card to hold appointments. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged 100% of the appointment price. Changes made with less than 24 hours' notice cost $25 Monday through Thursday and 100% of the service Friday through Sunday. There is a five-minute grace period for lateness, and repeated lateness can incur a 50% charge of the booked services. Concerns about a service should be reported within 48 hours for a free correction; later concerns are reviewed case by case.
