Family Cutz

Family Cutz opened its first location in Paramount in 2013 and added a Whittier location in 2019. Olga Moreno is the founder and CEO of the business, which is family owned and run.

The salon is built around children's haircuts. First haircuts are planned with specialized capes, client notes, timed steps and back-up plans, and the team says it does not need to hold children down during a cut. The salon describes itself as an Autism Speaks haircut resource salon and as award-winning, and it says it eases eight out of ten first-time visits into relaxation. These are the salon's own claims.

A visit is designed to feel easy for young clients. There is a play area, an Xbox station, chairs made for kids of all ages, and a gumball and snack machine. Kids' scissor cuts and detailed fades are offered alongside men's services and women's haircuts, color, styling and blow-dries. Hair extensions are matched to a client's natural color and texture, and deep conditioning and keratin treatments are available. Braiding is also on the menu. Kids' color and hair color consultations are booked by email.

The salon is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 7pm, Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and Sunday from 9am to 4pm. The salon notes that hours may change without notice.
