ETCH Salon was founded in 2004 by Jack Torres as an independent, non-corporate salon, with a team he wanted to be as passionate about hair as he was. The salon places education at the center of its operations and says its staff receive ongoing training, which it describes as coming from industry leaders.

The salon is on the northwest corner of Kierland Commons, next to Tommy Bahama, in a space of about 4,000 square feet. Floor-to-ceiling windows, lighting and styling stations were designed for a creative working environment.

Every service is a la carte and is booked separately. Pricing follows the stylist's level (Stylist, Advanced or Master), and listed prices are starting points that can shift with hair length, density, complexity and time. Services are set during a consultation with the stylist. First-time color clients are asked to book a consultation before their appointment, and color services do not include a blow-out, which must be booked separately.

Treatments and smoothing are built around Kerastase, Milbon GOLD, Malibu C, K18 and Shu Uemura products, along with Brazilian Blowout smoothing. The salon says it uses only products it considers best for clients' hair.

Education comes first, with ongoing training for the team and a consultation that shapes each service.
